In a significant event for Muslims worldwide, Arbaeen, also known as Chehlum, will be observed on August 25, 2024. This date marks the end of the 40-day mourning period for the martyrs of the Battle of Karbala.

Arbaeen falls on the 20th day of Safar in the Islamic calendar. While Arabic-speaking countries will observe it on August 24, nations such as Pakistan, India, and Bangladesh will commemorate the event on August 25.

The occasion honors Hazrat Imam Hussain, grandson of Prophet Mohammad, who was martyred on Ashura (the 10th day of Muharram). Millions of Muslims are expected to visit Imam Hussain’s shrine in Karbala, Iraq, for the Ziyarat Arbaeen pilgrimage.
