KARACHI – A fire that erupted on the fourth floor of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) building in Karachi’s financial district has been successfully extinguished.
The incident, which occurred on Monday morning, led to a temporary suspension of trading activities. Fire brigade teams responded promptly to the emergency, managing to bring the blaze under control.
Trading was initially halted at 10:25 AM, with plans to resume at 11:25 AM. However, sources report that the suspension has been extended until 12:25 PM due to ongoing safety measures.

Firefighters are currently conducting cooling operations to prevent any potential reignition. Preliminary reports indicate no casualties, although minor financial losses are expected.
As a precautionary measure, all occupants of the PSX building were evacuated to the parking area during the incident.
Officials attribute the cause of the fire to an electrical short-circuit on the fourth floor. Upon receiving alerts, the fire department dispatched three fire engines to the scene. Emergency responders worked diligently to contain the blaze and prevent its spread to other parts of the structure.
