Microsoft Launches Designer: New AI-Powered Image Creation Tool Rivals Canva

Microsoft has officially released Designer, its AI-powered image creation tool, to the public after an extended beta testing phase. The platform is now accessible to all users with a Microsoft account across multiple devices, including Windows applications, iOS and Android mobile apps, and web browsers, supporting over 80 languages.

Designer caters to a wide range of users, from beginners to experienced designers. Novice users can quickly create profile pictures, phone wallpapers, and greeting cards using pre-designed templates. More advanced users have full control over their creations, allowing them to build graphics from the ground up or modify existing designs.

For Copilot Pro subscribers, Designer integrates seamlessly with Microsoft’s AI chatbot, Copilot. This integration allows users to incorporate generated images directly into Word and PowerPoint documents, streamlining the creative process within the Microsoft ecosystem.

The user interface of Designer bears a striking resemblance to Canva, featuring a similarly intuitive layout. Microsoft has confirmed that Designer utilizes OpenAI’s powerful DALL-E image generator, aligning with Copilot’s integration of DALL-E 3 and ChatGPT 4 Turbo.

This release marks Microsoft’s entry into the competitive space of AI-driven design tools, offering users within its ecosystem a native alternative to established platforms like Canva.
